Epion

  • Do I have to pay taxes on my premium?

It depends on your country of residence. Within the European Union, taxes on insurance premium vary from country to country.

France collects 9% of tax, Italy collects 2,5% of tax, Germany is tax exempt.

EPION premiums during the subscription process include all relevant taxes.

  • Who can subscribe to an EPION policy?

Only the policyholder who is validly affiliated with the compulsory health care insurance in accordance with the Federal Law on Health Insurance in Switzerland and who does not reside in Switzerland may benefit from the guarantees of the contract. He himself must be insured under the policy. All persons related to the policyholder, whether at the level of spouse or dependent children, are also insurable with the policyholder.

  • What are the conditions for adding a newborn to an EPION policy?

    We distinguish 3 different situations:

    1) Existing Epion policy

For newborns, the Foyer Santé cover begins immediately after birth, with no waiting period and no medical risk assessment, IF AT LEAST ONE OF THE PARENTS HAS BEEN INSURED FOR AT LEAST THREE MONTHS ON THE CHILD'S DATE OF BIRTH AND THE APPLICATION FOR INSURANCE IS RECEIVED NO LATER THAN TWO MONTHS AFTER THE BIRTH, EFFECTIVE ON THE CHILD'S DATE OF BIRTH.
The insurance benefit cannot be higher or more extensive than that of one of the insured parents. Newborns can only be insured at the rates for new contracts.
IF THE BIOLOGICAL MOTHER IS STILL SUBJECT TO THE WAITING PERIODS FOR BENEFITS RELATING TO PREGNANCY AND CHILDBIRTH, BENEFITS WILL NOT BE REIMBURSED ACCORDINGLY. However, insurance is available for the care of newborns as long as the above conditions are met.

    2) Existing Swisspackage policy with HELSANA

In agreement between Helsana and Foyer Global Health, Helsana will allow for the cancellation of the Swisspackage policy (or a risk on the policy) at the last day of the month of the birth of the child. People do not have to obey to the annual cancellation term. Foyer Global Health will enrol people in an EPION policy on the 1st of the following month of the birth of the child.
